Transforming a Manuscript into a Book
Here are the procedures by which we will turn your manuscript into a book:
Sending the Manuscript: You will send us your completed manuscript (whether fiction, nonfiction, poetry, children’s stories, family history, short stories, how-to, autobiography, or any other genre) in a word-processed format, preferably Microsoft Word, on a CD, flashdrive, or e-mail attachment. In a cover letter, you should indicate which of the following services you will need:
- Writing Coaching: We help writers who need support with developing a regular writing routine, prioritizing their goals, and overcoming creative blocks.
- Editing: With your approval and participation, we will correct or improve your manuscript for grammar, spelling, style, organization, or content.
- Cover Design: We will use your artwork or photographs or provide these for you.
- Typesetting: We will design the book to your specifications concerning type size, font, leading, margins, placement of page numbers and headers, overall size of book, etc.
- Proofreading: We will proofread your book after it is typeset, and you will do the final proofread to make sure it meets all your specifications.
- Quality Printing: Sheet fed; Web Offset; Direct Image; Hard or Soft Cover; Perfect, Case, or Mechanical Binding.
- ISBN and Copyright Services: We will assist with copyright registration, bar-coding, and ISBN application (the number used by bookstores for ordering your book).
- Establishing a Publishing Business: If you wish to establish your own independent publishing company, we will help you with any or all of the following activities: choosing a business name, developing a logo, obtaining a resale license, and any of the services named above.
